Uploading documents to the Feed

Uploading a document within the 'My Desk' feed

Nothing you initiate from 'My Desk' is visible to anyone else until you explicitly add Users, Groups, Projects or Customers.

There are two ways you can upload documents to the Feed:

1. Drag and drop a document from your computer into the Feed.

2. Or you can click the Upload File button on the comments box, find the file you wish to upload from your computer, Dropbox or Google account and add it.

Once your document is uploaded, it will appear on the Feed. It will not be visible to anyone else until you explicitly share it with other Users, Groups, Projects or Customers.

Sharing your document with other Users, Groups, Projects or Customer contexts

When you share a document with others, you will probably want to write some comments about it. You can do this at the same time as you share the document, by using the comments box and the @ and % symbols.

In the example below, Julie has composed some comments to Tom about the document. This means that once the comments are posted, Julie will automatically have access to the document.

As you can see from the screenshot below, Tom now also has access to to the document.

You can also share documents directly to Groups, Projects or Customer contexts by using the Comments box.

In the example below, Julie has shared the document to the Customer within the CRM module.

As you can see in the example below, once he has posted the comments, the share list is updated to reflect the new places the document is shared to.

Uploading a document within the Groups, Projects or Customer contexts

If you are in a Group, Project or Customer context then any documents you upload will automatically be seen by others who have access to that context.

In the example below, Tom is already in the context of Fresco PLC - a Customer. His document will therefore be visible there without him mentioning the Customer specifically in his comments.
